Frequently Asked Questions About The Martial Arts Evoke Hapkido Academy Offers?

Not at the moment for this program.

We’ll follow up to assist with scheduling a trial for an alternate program.

Yes!  We also have a caring team of instructors to work hand-in-hand with you during your first couple of classes, until you get more comfortable.

All our classes are beginner friendly and the lessons are organized to be progressively more challenging with time, and accommodating to newer members.

Short answer: Hapkido is an ecclectic martial arts discipline with a coheasive set of principles that explores the relationship of human physiology and self defense.

It incorporates striking, kicking, throwing, joint locks, take-downs, chokes, traditional weapons, etc; as tools in exploring this relationship.

Self defense is simply one of the many by-products of martial arts training and is not the only focus in Hapkido. At its core, the art embodies a holistic approach to mind-body fitness, personal growth, and self protection.

An updated schedule will be posted soon.

* Please note that trial class visit are by appointment only.

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, we are restricted by the number of spots we open up for classes.

We are happy to schedule a visit to check out the school or meet with a member of our staff.

If you are perhaps simply curious about martial arts training, we have lots of class footage on our social media channels – #TorontoHapkido.

We are all about service, and do not believe in long-term contracts.

As professionals we hold ourselves to high standards of committment to offering the best possible experience for our members at all times.

In return, we also ask for a small level of committment from you that we feel is fair. We use a billing company with short-term membership agreements that allow to cancel with a 30-day notice. No questions asked.

Yes there are. Women make up a good size of our staff and instructor team.

We also have lots of amazing female martial artists in our classes.

It is part of our core values to offer a workout environment that is inclusive and not gender dominated.

Not quite.

Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (BJJ) and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) are buzz words thrown around alot at most martial arts Toronto schools.

Although Hapkido is a Korean form of Jiu Jitsu (originated in Japan), and shares many components of mixed martial arts – striking, takedowns, submissions, ground-fighting, etc –  we are not a Toronto mma school 🙂

Our commitment is teaching contemporary self defense skills that are safe, progressive, and practical for the everyday adult member.
